This page is being supplied as a backup measure because of the heavy usage of the Travel Advisor. It should load faster than the regular application. This contains only links to camera images and to the text-only REPORTS and BULLETINS. Please note:
  • Please use the BACK BUTTON of your browser to return to this page from camera pages or road report and road bulletin pages.
  • Also, remember not to rely solely on the Travel Advisor to make decisions. Conditions can change quickly.
  • Not all the cameras are working all the time.
  • Again, we apologize for this approach, but it is an effort to get the most vital information out quickly.

We switched our Web server to a higher capacity one with four CPUs and 1 gigabyte of RAM on the night of Tuesday, Jan. 11, and still neither the Travel Advisor nor the test-phase TripCheck was able to keep up with the hits we are receiving because of the bad weather.

How to use the Travel Advisor

Please do not rely solely on the Travel Advisor to make decisions.

The Travel Advisor uses existing ODOT information systems, such as traffic camera images, which are updated every 10 minutes on average, and the ODOT/State Police road report, which is updated several times daily during fall and winter. Most of these data systems were not originally designed to serve an Internet publishing system, so please be aware that the Travel Advisor is an ongoing project.

Also, please remember that road and weather conditions can change rapidly, that data sources and transmissions sometimes falter, that Internet performance is unpredictable, and that other factors beyond ODOT's control can affect performance of this system. While ODOT strives to keep information up-to-date, visitors to the site should judge its usefulness based on the data's age, and still take it with a grain of salt.

Please note update times with the camera images, road reports and weather forecasts to judge their usefulness.

Decisions on where, when and how to travel in Oregon should not be made based solely on the information provided by this site or ODOT's telephone road information service, as ODOT cannot guarantee it. Visitors acting on information provided here do so under their own responsibility and at their own risk. Common sense calls for travelers to gather information from multiple sources for confirmation, to use judgment and to act in a reasonable manner based on road, weather, traffic and other conditions.

These pages do not report traffic accidents or other real-time incidents. Motorists should watch for traffic restrictions, lane closures, detours and short delays. Watch for signs, flaggers, and pilot cars, and please buckle up and drive safely.

We hope you find this service useful in getting around Oregon.
